Sergio Ramírez nació en Guatemala en 1978. Es licenciado en Ciencias de la Comunicación. Ha escrito y dirigido los cortometrajes Hoy sí (2009, ficción) y Resistir para vivir, resistir par avanzar (2009, documental), y los largo documentales Distancia (2011) y El último viaje de Manuel José Arce, este último filmado entre Francia, España, México y Guatemala.
